PART 1 - GENERAL 1.1 General Conditions .1 Clauses of General Conditions and Complementary General Conditions are integral part of this section and are applied. 1.2 Related Work .1 Structural walls and ceilings Section 03 [ ] .2 Masonery walls Section 04 [ ] .3 Suspended channel support for ceiling hung partitions Section 05500 .4 Rough carpentry Section 06100 .5 Furring and lathing Section 09205 .6 Gypsum board Section 09250 .7 Walls and floors coverings Section 09 [ ] .8 Shower and dressing compartments Section 10185 .9 Toilet and bath accessories Section 10800 .10 Grab bars Section 10800 1.3 Inclued Works .1 The works covered by this section include the tools, manpower and materials required to complete the following works: .1 Steel channels other than those located over ceilings for supporting toilet partitions; .2 Accessories and hardware; .3 Fastening systems to walls and ceiling. 1.4 Samples .1 Submit duplicate [12 x 12 in.] [300 x 300 mm] samples of panel showing on both sides, two finished edges and core construction in accordance with Section 01340. .2 Submit duplicate representative samples of each hardware item, including brackets, fastenings and trim. 1.5 Shop Drawings .1 Submit shop drawings in accordance with Section 01340. .2 Clearly indicate assembly details, plans, elevations, hardware, and installation details. 1.6 Maintenance data .1 Provide maintenance data for maintenance of plastic laminate work for incorporation into Maintenance Manual specified in Section 01730. 1.7 Protection .1 Protect finished laminated plastic surfaces during shipment and during and after installation by approved means. Do not remove until immediately prior to final inspection. 1.8 Guarantee .1 Provide a written guarantee, signed and issued in the name of Owner stating that the laminated plastic work is guaranteed against warping and delamination for a period of one [1] year from the date of Final Certificate of Completion. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 Materials .1 Laminated plastic sheets: in conformity to CAN3-A172-M79, Type general use, de [[0.062][0.031]]in. [[1,6][0,80]]mm thickness with [solid colour] [woodgrain] [printed] pattern, [gloss] [satin] [furniture] [matt] [suede] [textured] [embossed] finish, choosen in the products of manufacturers Arborite or Formica. SPEC NOTE: Specify whether solid colour, woodgrain or printed pattern required since cost varies considerably with pattern. If more than one type of plastic laminate [colour/texture] is required, specify types and ensure drawings or specifications indicate where each type is to be used. .2 Solid laminated plastic: to CAN3-A172-M79 self supporting - Type SS, [19 mm] [3/4 in] thick with [solid coulour] [woodgrain] [printed] pattern, [gloss] [satin] [furniture] [matt] [suede] [textured] [embossed] finish on both sides. SPEC NOTE: Check with manufacturers regarding available colours and patterns in solid laminate. .3 Composite panels: .1 Core material: particle board to CAN3-0188.1-M78, Grade [H] sanded both faces, [15,8mm] [3/4 in] thickness. .2 Border [50mm] [2 in]: Solid laminated plastic: to CAN3-A172- M79 self supporting type , [15,8 mm] [5/8 in] thickness with [solid coulour] 2.1 Materials [Cont'd] .3 .3 Laminated plastic sheets: in conformity to CAN3-A172-M79, Type general use, de [0.062][0.031]po [1,6][0,80] mm thickness with [solid colour] [woodgrain] [printed] pattern, [gloss] [satin] [furniture] [matt] [suede] [textured] [embossed] finish, choosen in the products of manufacturers Arborite or Formica. .4 Laminated plastic adhesive: contact adhesive to CGSB 71-GP-20M. SPEC NOTE: Check with manufacturer regarding type of adhesive to be used for project conditions. .5 Hardware: .1 Hinges: heavy duty chrome plated non-ferrous casting, self lubricating [inward] [outward] [double action] swing, gravity return movement, adjustable to hold door open at any angle up to 90ˇ. .2 Slide bolt and keeper: chrome plated non-ferrous casting or extrusion, equipped for emergency access. .3 Door stop: chrome plated non-ferrous casting or extrusion with rubber insert. .4 Wall and connecting brackets: anodized aluminum extrusion . .5 Coat hook: combination hook and door bumper, chrome plated non-ferrous casting. .6 Door pull: type suited for outswinging doors. .6 Overhead brace: extruded aluminum channel with anodized finish [of anti-grip design]. .7 Stainless steel sheet metal: to CSA G110.6-1968, type [302] [304] with brushed finish. SPEC NOTE: Usually stainless steel types 302 or 304 are satisfactory and both are acceptable. Use finish designations as per ACNOR G110.6-1968. .8 Fasteners: stainless steel tamperproof type screws and bolts. Bolts passing trough panel must be male-female type and be similar on both sides. .9 Sealer: water resistant sealer or glue acceptable to laminate manufacturer. 2.2 Fabrication .1 Fabricate doors and partition panels of [composite] [solid] laminated plastic panels [19 mm] [3/4 in] thick to sizes indicated. .2 Fabricate pilasters of solid laminate plastic panels [19mm] [3/4in] to sizes indicated. SPEC NOTE: Include 2.2.3 and 2.2.4 when composite plastic laminate construction is specified. .3 Laminate plastic to core material ensuring core and laminate profiles coincide to provide continuous support and bond over entire surface. .4 Chamfer exposed edges uniformly at approximately 20ˇ. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 Partition .1 Install partitions secure, plumb and square. Erection .2 Leave [12 mm] [1/2 in] space between wall and panel or end pilaster. .3 Attach fixing brackets securely to masonry-concrete surfaces using screws and shields: to hollow walls using bolts and toggle type anchors, [to steel supports with bolts in threaded holes]. .4 Attach panel and pilaster to brackets with through type sleeve bolt and nut. SPEC NOTE: Indicate on drawings and specify in Section 05500, steel channel supports above ceiling, for ceiling-hung toilet partitions. Include steel hangers with threaded ends for levelling the channel. .5 Equip each door with hinges, latch set, and coat hook. Adjust and align hardware for easy, proper function. Set door open position at 30ˇ to front. .6 Equip outswinging doors with door pulls. 3.2 Ceiling Hung .1 Secure pilasters to supporting structural framing using pilaster Partitions hangers. .2 Assure pilaster hangers do not transmit load to finished ceiling. .3 Secure pilaster shoe in position. .4 Set bottoms of doors lever with bottom of pilasters when doors are in closed position. 3.3 Overhead .1 Attach pilasters to floor with pilaster supports and level, plumb, and Braced Partitions tighten installation with levelling device. .2 Secure pilaster shoes in position. .3 Secure headrail to pilaster face with not less than two fasteners per face. .4 Set tops of doors parallel with overhead brace when doors are in closed position. 3.4 Screens .1 Provide [urinal stall] [entrance] screens consisting of panel, pilaster and headrail [as specified for toilet compartments] [as indicated]. .2 Anchor screen panels to walls with [2] [3] panel brackets and [vertical upright consisting of tubular headrail stock and end sockets] [pilaster complete with floor and ceiling shoes], anchored to floor and ceiling. .3 Provide supplementary anchorage above ceiling finish to receive screen [vertical upright] [pilaster]. SPEC NOTE: Use 3.5.3. for ceiling that will not support structural posts such as plaster, drywall or suspended acoustic tile or grid. 3.5 Cleaning .1 After installation, take off all protective sheets and wash down finished surfaces with appropriate cleaning products. .2 Polish every metal piece and replace broken parts.
